Matthew 6:11 (NKJV)
“Give us this day our daily bread.”
Devotion
All of us, after having eaten a good meal, feel good—satisfied, content. Our hearts become tender toward God, to thank Him for His daily bread, our daily breath, our daily substance, our daily sustenance—our daily everything—and, more importantly, for His daily Presence abiding with us.
We want to thank Him for giving us another opportunity and the privilege to be with Him.
“In Your Presence is fullness of joy, and at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)
Is it only for the fullness of our bellies, and the pleasures we enjoy in this life? Oh no, beloved. It is only because of His Presence—His abiding with us.
This is pure joy: to walk with God in our garden, as Adam and Eve walked in theirs.
Moses said in Exodus 33:15: “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”
Lord Jesus, we will not journey without You. Lord Jesus, we need You by our side daily.
Oh Father, “give us this day”—this Day alone.
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for today—this day alone. Thank You for the daily bread You provide, for each breath, each moment, and most of all, for Your abiding Presence. Walk with me, guide me, and remind me that true joy is found only in You. Help me to trust You for today, and to live fully in Your presence, moment by moment. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
Instead of worrying about the past or future, ask God to give you strength, wisdom, and joy for each moment. Take intentional pauses to notice His presence in the ordinary, and thank Him for the daily gifts He provides.
