A Glowing Coal

Isaiah 6:7-8 (ESV)
”And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”
Devotion
Imagine this: You're walking through a jewelry store, surrounded by thousands of glistening pieces, but there is only one piece that shines differently. Not with a dimmer glow, but the brightest shine that could light up the whole world. This piece is a fiery, burning coal that outshines the whole entire store. Your eyes can’t help but to want to stare at this piece for hours, maybe even days.
That piece of coal is inside us glowing, though it may sometimes dim. Our sins and the enemy's tactics can hinder its brightness. Yet, our Worker is always shining his fire upon the coal no matter what the enemy tries to throw our way. In Isaiah 6:7-8, Isaiah was called on to go out and do a great mission. Heavenly beings stood before him as he repented from his lips the sin of his uncleanness (Isaiah 6:5). One of the heavenly beings flew to him and gave him a glowing piece of coal and touched his mouth (Isaiah 6:6). Then, the Lord’s voice appeared and sent Isaiah on a Mission.
The fiery coal that glows for miles inside of us is the Holy Spirit. When we sacrifice and repent, that fire begins to shine even brighter and as it grows, sin burns out. As the coal touched Isaiah’s lips, God can do the same for you. He wants you to have a fiery piece of coal inside. He wants the flames to grow so much that the devil can’t even stand a chance. Let the Holy Spirit light up your soul and burn out the dimmer glow.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the cleansing power of Your presence. Just as You purified Isaiah with the burning coal, touch my heart today. Remove any sin, doubt, or fear that dims the fire within me. Ignite a passion for Your purpose, and let the Holy Spirit burn brightly in my life. May my words, actions, and thoughts reflect Your holiness, so that I may boldly go where You send me. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
Just as Isaiah responded to God’s call with, “Here I am! Send me,” be willing to say yes to God today. Ask Him where He is calling you to shine His light, whether in your home, workplace, or community. Step out in faith, knowing that He has purified, equipped, and empowered you through the Holy Spirit to fulfill His purpose.
