All My Children

Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

Devotion

In week two of At The Movies, the movie One Life, we see the character Nicholas Winton being moved with compassion over the plight of refugee children in war-torn Europe during World War II.

Nicholas was an English stockbroker and entrepreneur. Like visionaries, they can see long-term and short-term what they are looking at. They see the challenges, the risks, and the logistics of a problem, yet the creativity of their vivid imagination and talent far surpasses what is in front of them to reach a desired end.

God has given to each one of His children a measure of faith. (Romans 12:3) God has also given to us gifts and talents—at least one—for the working of the ministry and for glorifying God in everything we set our hands to do. (Deuteronomy 28:8)

Did Nicholas Winton know God? We do not know; however, we do know he was stirred to action and had the urgency to make a profound difference.

“But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” (1 John 3:17)

Nicholas Winton had the talent and the capacity to impart his vision to others because his bowels of compassion were opened to assist and rescue children who didn’t have a prayer.

There is a saying in Christian circles: “When you see a need that is not being fulfilled, that is potential for ministry.”

The same God Who moves mountains is the same God Who moves hearts to action.

A crying, marginalized child cannot be ignored.

A crying, marginalized child of God will never be ignored.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving me gifts, talents, and a purpose to glorify You. Open my heart to see the needs around me and give me the compassion to respond with love and action. Help me not grow weary in doing good, but to trust that You are working through every act of kindness and obedience. Show me where You want to use me to bring hope, encouragement, and help to those who need it. May my life reflect Your heart for Your children. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Ask God to open your eyes to the needs around you and reveal how He wants to use your gifts, talents, and resources to make a difference. You may not be able to change the whole world, but you can make a Kingdom impact in the life of one person.
