Are You Rapture Ready?
Wednesday, April 15
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (ESV)
“Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.”
Devotion
One key element in being ready to meet Jesus in the air is a zeal for helping others get ready to meet Jesus as well. Sure, some will be taken and others left, but as long as it is called today, we need to make use of God’s patience in not wanting anyone to perish. What if Jesus had returned the day before we finally surrendered? Oh, what tribulation awaits those who delay until Jesus has returned!
How grateful are we to those who shared Jesus with us—those who kept speaking words of life to us and who kept praying for us until we surrendered to Him? If we came to Jesus shortly before the rapture, should we not do unto others by compelling them to get ready as well? As joyful as the return of Jesus will be for those who belong to Him, it will also be a time of great distress for those who delay too long.
Jesus said, “Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Matthew 24:30).
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Create in me an urgency to respond to the call of preparation for Your soon return. I repent of misplaced priorities and of delaying coming to You to make things right. Lead me in the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Restore to me the joy of my salvation. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
As long as it is called “Today” and Christ’s return has not yet occurred, there is still time to get ready. However, since no one knows the day or the hour of His arrival, time is of the essence. Be faithful in your time with Him, in the Word of God and in prayer. When your cup overflows, others will be needing that Light.
