Blessings And Multiplication In Obeying God

Sunday, June 8

Genesis 22:17-18 (NIV)
“I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”
Devotion

Our obedience to God brings blessings and multiplication to a thousand generations. We will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country; blessed in coming in, and blessed in going out. We will be blessed far above all we could ever ask for or imagine! Even our children, and their children's children, will be blessed because we chose to obey God! He is faithful and He is a covenant keeping God.

When we choose to obey God, decisions are distinguishing. When we pull ourselves away from our family members who refuse to obey God, we will be set apart, and be used for the glory of God. It doesn’t matter what lineage we come from, we are now grafted in God’s bloodline. We are redeemed from the old practices in the family, and we are now part of God’s family. All the sins of our forefathers are cleansed and we now have a new covenant of grace, and we are no longer under the curse; we are now cleansed by the blood of the lamb. We are now covered by the blood of Jesus and set free from the law of sin and death.

By the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, we are now redeemed, when we choose to obey and follow Jesus. He is our King of kings and Lord of lords! Quit being envious and jealous of somebody else’s gift because what you are doing for the Lord is also important.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for dying on the cross to save me. I do not take lightly the blood that was shed on Calvary to save me. It all began on the altar of sacrifice. Thank You for the blood, Lord Jesus. Just as the sons of Korah separated themselves and made a distinguishing decision to pull themselves away from their own flesh and blood in order to honor you, help me Lord to turn away from my wicked past and crooked ancestry, full of idolatry. I do not want to be bitter for not being seen and recognized for all the things I have done. Lord, help me see that my role in your Kingdom is also important. Holy Spirit, guide me and direct my steps. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
