By His Spirit

Zechariah 4:6 (NIV)

“So he said to me, ‘This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by my might nor by power, but by My Spirit.”

Devotion

We live in a world where hustle, strategy, and power are celebrated. But God reminds us that healing, restoration, ministry, and growth aren't the product of our effort but of His Spirit. Zerubbabel faced a half-finished temple and overwhelming opposition—it seemed too big. Yet God reminded him that His plans aren't fulfilled by human hands or resources but by His Spirit. This reminds us to rely not on our strength but on His. Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

"Not by might" means human strength won't accomplish God's plan.

"Nor by power" means individual ability or skill isn't enough.

"But by My Spirit" means the Holy Spirit's power works through us for success.

We can't do things alone, only by His Spirit. Ask yourself today: Where are you trying to "force" something by your own strength?

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I'm grateful Your Holy Spirit dwells in me and You walk with me daily. Because of this precious union, I resign from living by my own strength. Your way is better, Your thoughts higher, Your love stronger. I surrender and ask for Your help, wisdom, and grace every step. You are my Lord, and I want it that way. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Apply It Today

Waiting on the Lord is a skill that grows with use. Make it a daily habit to wait on Him, listen for His voice, and spend time in His Word. This is fellowship. In this communion, you'll learn His ways and thoughts. Walk in them, and life gets easier.
