Choose Life
Sunday, August 10
Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV)
“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”
Devotion
In Pastor Franklin’s message, he urged us to choose life, not just for ourselves, but for our children and grandchildren. Our choices affect generations, and our loved ones will follow our example.
God is holy and cannot tolerate sin. He hates sin but loves sinners, that’s why Jesus died on the cross, taking all of God’s wrath upon Himself. Scripture says, “The face of the Lord is against those who do evil” (Psalm 34:16). From the beginning, even Adam and Eve were banished from Eden because of sin.
Jesus makes it clear: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). There’s no other way to heaven. Either we accept Him and gain eternal life, or reject Him and face eternal separation in hell.
Time is short. One day, the Book of Life will be opened, will your name be in it? Choose today to follow Jesus. Be ready when the Bridegroom comes for His bride. Choose life.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving us the choice between life and death. Help me to choose life daily by following Jesus wholeheartedly. Give me the courage to turn away from sin and live in a way that honors You, leaving a godly legacy for my children and generations to come. I surrender my life to You today. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
