Committing The Work

Proverbs 16:3 (NKJV)
“Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.”
Devotion
Dreams or aspirations can appear to be larger than life to achieve, especially in human strength. But God-given dreams are not impossible. They need His partnership. So a wise person will commit or entrust their work into the hands of the Lord first. They know they’ll need His grace and guidance, and that there may be a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. (Proverbs 14:12) To avoid these pitfalls, they seek His counsel to get His mind on every matter. They know His ways and thoughts are higher than their own. And that our loving Heavenly Father is willing to share His thoughts if we ask Him.
This act is honoring the Lord. In respect we are saying, “Lord, we want You to be involved in our lives, in every decision. We do not want to make a move without You.” Moses had this mindset and found favor in God’s sight. He told God, “If I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight.” (Exodus 33:13) He wanted not only to know God’s direction, but the end goal to know Him more. He loved God and wanted to personally experience and understand Him. Because of that, Moses was one of the few through the annuals of time, to be selected by God to meet with His Presence on a regular basis. Moses went on to say, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.” (vs 15) He was absolutely determined not to make a move or to complete a work without Him.
In pursuing Him, we shall find Him. “Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” says the Lord …” Jeremiah 29:12-14a.
Rest assured, God can bring His dreams to pass in our lives because He has already made a plan for them. “For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10) And Psalm 139:16,17 says, our days were fashioned for us and written in His book before we were even born. So as we commit our works to Him and seek His thoughts, know that He has our best in mind. “For I know the plans that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before You, committing my plans and works into Your hands. I acknowledge that my own understanding is limited, but Your wisdom is infinite. Lead me, guide me, and establish my thoughts according to Your perfect will. May every step I take bring glory to Your name. Teach me to seek You first in all I do, knowing that Your plans are always for my good. In the Name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
Before making any major moves, pause and ask God for His direction. Write down the thoughts and impressions He gives you in a journal, and reflect on how He may be leading you. Trust that as you commit your work to Him, He will establish your thoughts and align your path with His purpose.
