Courageous Waiting

Sunday, April 13

Habakkuk 2:3 (NKJV) “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.”
Devotion

What a reassuring truth God reveals to us about the vision He imparts to each of us. Let’s explore more of this Word:

  1. “For the vision is yet for an appointed time.” The vision will happen in God’s specific timing.
  2. “At the end it will speak.” The vision will be fulfilled and clear.
  3.  “It will not lie.” When the vision comes, it will be true and trustworthy; there will be no deception.
  4. “Though it tarries, wait for it.” Even if the vision feels delayed or takes time to materialize, let’s be patient and allow it to come.
  5. “It will surely come.” Regardless of any setbacks, the vision is bound to come.
  6. “It will not tarry.” When it arrives it will be right on time.
Trusting in God’s timing means understanding that His delays are not denials, but reflections of His wisdom. We can rely on His unwavering faithfulness to make the path clear when the time is right.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

What He has shown us will unfold as He intends. There is no need to doubt, for God’s Word is steadfast. “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8

Patience in God’s process refines us, preparing our hearts to receive His vision with gratitude. Just as seeds need time to grow, so does the fulfillment of God’s plans for us. “Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

No obstacle, hardship, or delay can thwart His purpose. What He has set in motion will come to fruition, and nothing can stand in the way. “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 5:11.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the vision You’ve placed in my heart. Even when the wait feels long and the road uncertain, I choose to trust in Your perfect timing. You are not a man that You should lie, and Your Word never returns void. Remind me that delays are not denials, but divine pauses filled with purpose. Teach me to wait with courage, not in despair, but in expectation—believing that what You have promised will surely come. Strengthen my faith when doubt whispers. Quiet my heart when anxiety rises. Help me to keep doing good, to remain steadfast, and to hold on with hope. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
