Fixing Our Eyes On Jesus

Friday, June 5

Hebrews 12:2–3 (NIV)

“fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

Devotion

This passage encourages us to keep our eyes on Jesus during difficult times. Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith. He began the work of faith in us, and He will help us finish the race.

When we feel overwhelmed or begin to lose heart, the answer is not simply to try harder, but to look to Jesus. By focusing on Him and spending time in His Word, our perspective shifts from fear to faith.

As we fix our eyes on Jesus and meditate on Him, let us remember that He endured the cross and won the victory. Because of the joy set before Him—fulfilling God's plan, bringing salvation, and restoring people to God—He willingly suffered on the cross and bore its shame. He rose again and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus endured hostility, rejection, and suffering so that we could receive freedom, forgiveness, and eternal life. His example gives us strength to persevere and remain faithful in every season of life. When we face hardships, opposition, or discouragement, let us remember how much Jesus endured. He is our perfect example.

Whatever makes you weary and burdened, bring it to God, and He will give you rest.

Those who look to Him are radiant, and their faces shall never be put to shame. Let us continually look to Jesus, trusting in His faithfulness, power, and unfailing love. As we keep our eyes fixed on Him, He will guide us, strengthen us, and carry us through every challenge until the race is finished.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being the Author and Finisher of our faith. When we feel weary, distracted, or overwhelmed, help us to fix our eyes on You. Strengthen our hearts to remember what You have already accomplished through the cross and the victory of Your resurrection. Shift our focus from fear to faith, and from our struggles to Your strength. Carry us through every season and help us not to lose heart. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
