From Glory To Glory
Sunday, February 23
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
Devotion
When handling conflicts with others, we often focus on the problem rather than the heart. In life, we are often tainted by our own experiences, especially the bad ones. And yes, words can hurt a person even more than physical wounds. They are remembered far longer than anything else we go through.
Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." We can either speak words that build people up or words that tear them down. Many of us have heard words that made us feel worthless or inadequate. Long after the incident, we still relive those words in our hearts.
In his message on Sunday, Pastor Hodges said that these experiences tend to become the filter through which we view others, especially during conflicts. We assume that everyone thinks of us the same way our past experiences have made us feel. As a result, we may put up walls or defenses to protect ourselves from being hurt.
Yet, when we look through the mirror God provides, we see who we could become if we allow Him to work in us. God gives us glimpses of our full potential. In His eyes, we are not inferior or worthless. We are beautiful, precious, and perfected because of Jesus.
We can be transformed from who we are now into who He has shown us we can be. If we allow Him, God will change us gradually, shaping us to reflect His image. True change comes from the heart and flows outward. It is the heart that He wants to change, not just our outward appearance, until our glory is exchanged for His glory, and we see Him as He is.
We cannot afford to remain stagnant. We must move forward, confront the issues that weigh us down, and allow healing to take place. Only then can we be fully transformed and become a new creation. So don't let your past experiences stop you from becoming all that God has called you to be.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for transforming me from glory to glory. Help me to see myself through Your eyes and not through the lens of my past experiences. Heal my heart from the words and wounds that have shaped my perception, and renew my mind with Your truth. Teach me to speak words that bring life and reflect Your love. May I grow daily into the image of Christ, embracing the fullness of who You have called me to be. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
