God Will Daily Bear You Up
Saturday, May 11
Psalm 68:19 (NIV)
“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.”
Devotion
Burdens big and small, God sees and cares for them all. Our tribulations can sometimes make each day feel unbearable, and that is the point of this scripture promise. When we encounter agonizing pain and circumstances, God Himself will bear it for us.
But does God actually bear our burdens? And if so, what does that mean? As a verb, the word “bear” means to carry the weight. God is not indifferent to what is happening to us. The Book of Hebrews tells us that nothing is hidden from Him, and everything is seen by Him. As Pastor Jentezen taught us this week, God cares about all the details of our lives.
Sometimes in times of trouble, we distance ourselves from God, wondering if He is really interested in us because of who we are. Yes, we think too much about our imperfections other than trusting God’s strength and compassion. So, instead of saying, “Lord, I need your help,” we feed the nagging voice of doubt and withdraw into a cave of lonely isolation.
In Matthew 11:28, Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Are you carrying a heavy load? Lay your burden at the feet of the Shepherd of your soul and you will walk away uplifted, joyful, and relieved.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your Word in Matthew 6:27 asks us, if by worrying we can add an extra day to our lives? The truth is no, the burdens of our heart do not benefit us spiritually, physically, or emotionally; so please help us to let go of them. Father, help us to remain calm in our storms. Help us to see past the raging seas and see that You are our God. You are in control. You see the aches of our heart and You have the power to take them away, so that we can be free. Thank You that You are working on our behalf in the big and small details that concern us. Have Your divine way in our lives, in the Name of Jesus. we pray. Amen.
