God’s Healing Hands

Sunday, September 21

Mark 16:18, 20 NKJV

18 b “they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” .. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.”

Devotion

The power of the Holy Spirit was upon the disciples. Miracles happened. They went everywhere—they preached, they healed people, and the Lord was with them. The power and anointing of the Holy Spirit gave them the healing hands of Jesus. He gave them His Word that changed lives. He enabled them to go where they needed to go, with boldness and purpose. They were changed because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. They were on fire for God!

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts of the Apostles 1:8 NKJV)

When tragedy happens, it is hard to reconcile what we see and feel with how we are to face our tomorrow with a heart full of hope in Jesus. How can you rise from the ashes when all your hopes and dreams are dashed? How do you tell your daughter and your son that daddy is not coming home? How can you ease the pain of a father whose faith never wavered, yet come face to face with a loss so great, the chasm is too deep to fill?

We look to Jesus. The author and finisher of our faith. He heals all our diseases and comforts all who mourn.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I do not understand why bad things happen to good people. The pain is too deep, and I am unable to see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. Help me see with eyes of faith that “what the enemy meant for evil, you can turn to good.” The loss of a mighty man of God has left us with such a deep loss, that only Your love can fill. Lord, fill us with Your Spirit. Let faith arise and empower us to rise from the ashes and live boldly and courageously to share the goodness of salvation to the nations You have called us to go. You are the hope of glory, and we trust in Your unfailing love! This is my prayer in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Apply It Today

We are God’s healing hands. We firmly believe “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11 NKJV) This generation is called to share the Gospel of salvation unashamedly. It is the final hour. We need to take action and live by faith and not by sight. Let’s do the will of the Father and obey Him, who admonished: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV) Amen!
