Heaven, The Place We Desire

Saturday, August 9

Revelation 21:25-27 (NIV)
“On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”
Devotion

This world is not our true home. We are journeying toward heaven, a place where there will be no abduction, no anxiety, no fear, no divorce, no fraud, no prostitution, no human trafficking, no tsunamis, no cancer, and no sin. There will be no more disappointment and no more pain. It will be a wonderful place, perfect in every way.

The Apostle Paul, after his personal experience of paradise, declared, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9). Just imagine: the Bible speaks of streets made of gold, gates of pearl, and walls built with jasper. Revelation tells us of a magnificent capital city, the New Jerusalem, adorned with twelve foundations, each radiant and unique.

In light of these glorious promises, our hearts find hope and assurance. Heaven is not merely a dream or a distant idea; it is a divine reality lovingly prepared for those who love and follow Christ. As we navigate the brokenness of this world, let us fix our eyes on the eternal joy that awaits us.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the promise of a perfect home where there is no pain, fear, or sin, only Your presence and eternal joy. Help me to live each day with heaven in view, keeping my heart pure and my name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Strengthen me to walk faithfully with You until the day I see You face to face. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
