Holy Spirit Fire

Acts 2:2-4 (NKJV)
“And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
Devotion

What an invigorating moment captured today’s passage. A rushing mighty wind that filled the entire house, tongues of fire appearing over the disciples, and the Holy Spirit filling the people causing transformation. This passage reminds us of the power and presence of God that moves among His people, to this day. 

How many have ever felt or thought, “There has to be something more”, something more than what we are currently experiencing? A study conducted by Dr. Tracy F. Munsil, Executive Director from the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University, states 75% of American millennials are desperately seeking more meaning and purpose in life.

There is a need in the world, that the world cannot fulfill itself. Only the fire of the Holy Spirit fills our deepest longings in life and equips us with deep passion to carry out our God given purpose, daily. The fire of the Holy Spirit transforms our lives in ways we cannot comprehend. The fire of the Holy Spirit is available for everyone who follows Jesus.

Jesus said that while physical water only quenches thirst temporarily, the water he offers brings eternal satisfaction and life. (John 4:13-14) He promised us the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49)

As we seek a closer relationship with God and yearn for His purpose, let us ask God for the fire of the Holy Spirit to reignite us so we can spark a Holy Spirit Fire in others!

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Just as You poured out Your Spirit on the disciples at Pentecost, we ask that You fill us afresh today. Ignite a fire within us that cannot be quenched, a passion for Your presence, a boldness to share Your love, and a deep hunger to walk in Your purpose. Burn away anything that hinders us from fully surrendering to You. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Ask God to fill you with the fire of the Holy Spirit daily. Take time to pray and invite His presence into your life. Allow the Holy Spirit to work through you to ignite faith in you and others around you.
