Kicking Resistance And Embracing The River

Amos 9:13-15 (NIV)

‭‭”The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills, and I will bring my people Israel back from exile. “They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the LORD your God.”

Devotion

God wants our whole hearts—the kind of obedience that touches every corner of our lives, not just Sunday mornings.

In Amos 9:13–15, God paints this incredible picture of crazy abundance: the harvest is so huge the reaper can’t keep up with the plowman, and new wine is literally dripping off the mountains. This promise comes right after Amos calls out Israel hard for their fake religion, their injustice, and how they ignored people in need—rituals alone don’t cut it with God.

We’ve got to ditch our “manual mode,” drop the old wineskins, and let God’s fresh Spirit flow through us without fighting it. Just like the Israelites got comfy and forgot God’s love, we can easily get stuck dipping only ankle-deep while He’s calling us to jump in all the way.

True faith penetrates how we treat others and face life’s challenges.

When we finally lean in completely, God promises the same kind of restoration—ruined places rebuilt, dry areas flooded with resurrection life, healing, and fresh fruit that lasts. So let’s pray hard today, kick the resistance to the curb, get on board with His faster pace, and watch the river of living water turn everything around for good in Christ.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Your ways are higher than my own, and so are Your thoughts. I humbly submit to them because I’m all in! I want everything You have planned for my life. From this moment forward, may Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Today, make the choice to go all in—surrender that one area you’ve been holding back, whether it’s a relationship, a habit, a fear, or your daily schedule, and say yes to God’s full flow right now. Step out of the shallow end, lean fully into His accelerating pace, and watch Him flood your life with the abundant restoration and fresh life He’s promised.
