Not A Moment Too Soon

1 Samuel 11:9 (NKJV)

And they said to the messengers who came, “Thus you shall say to the men of Jabesh Gilead, ‘Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have help.” Then the messengers came and reported it to the men of Jabesh, and they were glad.

Devotion

The men of Jabesh-Gilead were in dire straits. They were facing certain defeat from the Ammonites. The enemy was determined to bring their threat to pass—until the word of the Lord came to their rescue. In an instant, their fear turned into exhilaration. “And they were glad.”

For any who will receive this word today, as it was received then, how would it impact us? Our attitude would instantly change. The circumstances surrounding us would be dramatically altered. Everything that was against us suddenly would shift in our favor. The tables would be turned. The scales outweighed. The heavy burdens we had been carrying would be unloaded.

The news of relief coming for you, beloved—how would it impact you? Everything that was wrong suddenly becomes right.

Jesus said in John 16:24, “Up until now, you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

So, whether it is relief, rescue, restoration, or redemption—ask, beloved! And Jesus will come to us, because He promised He would.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

I confess I have often latched onto false hopes of rescue and not had real trust for the things You have really promised—not deliverance from every inconvenience or earthly consequence for my sins, but rather deliverance from the sin itself and the eternal consequences of separation from You. Open my eyes to see how my own sin and my own flesh are my biggest enemies. Open my ears to hear Your word of life about freedom through surrender to Jesus. May I be changed from one degree of glory to another—not by accruing worldly blessings, convenience, or wealth, but by becoming more and more like Jesus. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

When you face the next challenge, remember how the Lord has helped you in the past. If He has helped you thus far, worship and say aloud, “I sought the Lord, and He heard, and He answered. That’s why I trust Him. That’s why I trust in God, my Savior, the One who will never fail.” Ask in Jesus’ Name for the path forward that He can make for you.
