Peace With God
Sunday, July 6
John 16:33 (NKJV)
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Devotion
Solomon started out very humble, he had a generous heart, and sacrificed to God. He pleased God so much that God asked him, “What do you want?” Solomon did not ask for wealth, but asked God for wisdom to govern his people. God blessed him not only with wisdom, but also blessed Solomon with wealth, beyond all he could ever imagine. He was the richest man in the world. He had a net worth of 2 Trillion Dollars in today’s wealth; he had a fleet of ships; and he was so rich that all his cups were made of gold.
He received tributes of money, precious garments, spices, and precious stones - diamonds, rubies, etc; his throne was made of ivory and pure gold steps; he had a footstool made of solid gold; he had 4,000 stallions in Jerusalem alone; and 12,000 more stallions ready at his beck and call; and he owned all the land from the Euphrates river to Gaza, to the borders of Egypt. It was common to have stacks of silver as it was to see stacks of rocks. He had peace, he had rest, and he had security because God was with him. He was in love with God and it was all about the temple. It was all about serving God and sacrifice. There was rest all around him and there was peace. God was his security. He was blessed and highly favored by God.
Then something happened. He began to marry strange women. This robbed him of God’s peace. Apart from God we will find no rest, we will have no peace and we will not have any security. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He alone is able to give us stability and perfect peace. Apart from God, we are nothing. When we keep our focus on the One who is able to keep us from falling, we are secure and nothing moves us. Our anchor is in the Rock of all ages and He is able to hold us steady amidst difficult circumstances that we may be facing. Even when storms rage all around us, we can sleep peacefully, knowing God is Sovereign over all.
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I surrender my life to You. Take away all my doubt and fear and help me put my trust completely in You. I offer my life - all that I have, all that I am, all I have been through, and all I ever hope to be. You are my Rock, my Deliverer and the Lover of my soul. You alone Lord Jesus are able to hold me steady, and take me from strength to strength and from glory to glory. I have done things my way, and I have messed it all up. Let Your will be done upon my life. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3) Rejoice when your name is in the book of life. He’s got you in the palm of His hands. You can’t have the peace of God when you are not at peace with God. You are not at peace, unless He washes you and cleanses you. Be reconciled to God.
