Peacemakers

Sunday, September 7

Matthew 5:9

“Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called children of God.”

Devotion

Reggie Dabbs said in his message that we are to be the first responders to people who need help. We are to be the peacemakers in this world, the ones who come to the rescue and save others. There are many sick, broken, messed up, and lonely people who need help. They need to know there is someone who can help them, someone greater or bigger than their problems.

We who have come out of the fire and been saved need to rescue others. We need to be the person who snatches them out of the fire. Sin has marked them with a red tag, and they are bound for hell. But we can rescue them and send them to the great physician. Instead of a red tag, we put a blue one on them because we know nothing is impossible for Him. Jesus was marked for death but came back from the dead. No one thought He would make it, but He died and rose again. People need to know there is hope for them too.

People need to know that one day the greatest peacemaker will return. They can learn to get along with each other when they turn to Him. Like Ruby Bridges, we can pray for those who persecute and hate us. We can show them love instead of hate and pray their eyes be opened to the truth. Like Jesus, we can ask God to forgive them. If a six-year-old can pray like that, so can we. So, let’s pray, reach out to others, and bring them into the fold. Let’s be lights and the salt that makes them thirsty for God, changing their tags from red to blue.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the ministry of reconciliation. Help me to lead people to You by loving them the way You love people. Forgive me for being self-centered in the past. I put Your will first. I want to see others with fresh eyes. I pray to be a light to the people you’ve placed in my path. Cause me to leave a good legacy by being sensitive to Your leading. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Apply It Today

Take the time to slow down in your day to stop and see the needs of those around you. Pray for an open door to share His love and His word. Listen for His voice and follow Him as He leads you.
