Perfect Love

Romans 8:15 (NKJV)
“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
Devotion

Today’s devotional is based on the movie ‘Redeeming Love’. This movie teaches us to look at the hard lesson’s life gives through the eyes of a young man that has fallen in love with a woman of less than fortunate circumstances.
This story illustrates on many levels how love really does conquer life’s obstacles and challenges with a bit of faith and a lot of perseverance. What can we learn from this love story?

  1. We see how forgiveness is one of the hardest acts for any human being, especially the ones that have been hurt the most in life. It is hard to understand that we all can receive forgiveness and grace even if we feel we are not worthy!
  2. We see a lesson of obedience to God, because sometimes believers are called to do hard tasks or make big sacrifices. It's God’s way of developing our character and showing us to be codependent on His Mercy and Grace for our very existence.
  3. This story is a reminder of God’s love which was demonstrated through the effort of a young man trying to win the love and trust of a woman hardened by life. The young man was merciful and patient, Just as God is with us each day.
  4. We learn the lesson of hope which is a joyful expectation about the future, a trust that our tomorrows will be greater than our yesterdays. Real hope combines radical trust in God with the candid admission that we do not know the details about our futures. What we do know, however, does outweigh what we do not.

The story of redeeming love, shows us how much God really loves us and how much He truly desires our unconditional trust in Him. Abba Father is a cry of trust and intimacy that only happens when we draw close to our Father in Heaven, and learn to depend on Him in every season of our life.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
We praise You and thank You so much for showing us the gift of Your love and compassion. For giving us Your beloved son Jesus, who emulates Your heart as our Father, who has redeemed us from the bondage of iniquity, giving us freedom through Your beloved Word and the ultimate sacrifice of love. We can never repay all You have given us. We can only acknowledge the reality of Your absolute Divinity and Perfection contrary to our imperfect ways.
Thank You for showing us the possibility of redemption, the truth of Your grace, and the abundance of Your Love. In the Name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Our lives may differ but we all share the same doubts, struggles and uncertainties. What have you learned from these trials? Reflect on today’s verse which entails seeking God on a deeper level, understanding the person you are and who our Abba Father has called us all to be.
