Praise The Lord!
Sunday, June 14
Psalm 150:6 (NKJV)
“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!”
Devotion
In Sunday’s message, Pastor Franklin talked about how important it is to praise the Lord. When the psalmist said everything in verse 6 of Psalm 150, he meant all of God’s creation, especially man. For we are created in His image, and He created us so that we could have a relationship with Him. In Psalm 22:3, it says that God inhabits the praises of Israel, meaning that He dwells in not only their praises but ours.
Pastor Franklin said that it is our purpose from life to death to praise Him. Even when all seems lost, praise Him for who He is and what He has done. Praise Him in the storm, because He is still there. He is there in good times and bad. We just have to hold onto Him and lift up our voices. Remember all that Job went through, and yet he still worshipped God. And David was hounded and chased by Saul, and his own son Absalom wanted to kill him; yet he chose to praise God.
Pastor Franklin also stated that when we choose not to praise the Lord, we cause other people around us to do the same. When we are cast down or depressed, we need to praise Him even more! Pastor Franklin also said that we are liberated so we can dance like David did before the Lord. Dance and don’t worry about what others think. That’s when pride and fear come in, and we stop lifting our hands because those around us aren’t. Forget them and focus on praising Him. Who knows if someone near you will see your joy and do the same?
So let’s praise Him with our whole being. Jesus said that if people didn’t speak, the stones would cry out instead. So let’s raise our voices in songs and praise Him. Praise Him, for He is worthy. Praise Him, for He is good and does good. Praise Him, for He is the magnificent, omnipotent God, and there is none greater!
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Because I know You and love You, I offer up my praise to You each day. I lift up my voice in Your name and I shall praise You with joyful lips. Be magnified, O Lord, in my life and in the world around me for the rest of my days, In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
