Renounce The Spirit Of Fear
Tuesday, March 18
1 Samuel 10:22 (KJV)
“Therefore they inquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the LORD answered, Behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.”
Devotion
Although in this excerpt the Lord had just used Samuel to prophesy to Saul and confirm him soon to be king over the Israelites, Saul still expressed fear and cowardness by hiding when he was called upon. This was his moment to give thanks unto the Lord and rejoice, but Saul hid and had to be sought after by the people. Unfortunately, we come to know Saul’s tragic end which was caused by unresolved jealousy, disobedience, as well as fear.
Perhaps that’s what led to Saul’s constant disobedience from God. Fear. Fear of not knowing what would happen if he were to execute God’s instructions. Fear of not knowing if it’s really the voice of the Lord. We’ve all been like Saul, but unless we want the expected ending of Saul, we must not bow down to this spirit of fear!
It says in Revelation 21:8 that the fearful, unbelieving, and more will not inherit the kingdom of God. This is not to condemn you, but instead to give you a wakeup call, that when you express fear, you are essentially telling God that He is not almighty, that He is not omniscient, and that He doesn’t know what’s best.
People of God, we know this is a lie from the enemy. God is the Ancient of Days, El Shaddai, God of the hills and valleys. So today, speak out of your mouth the renunciation of fear! Renounce, denounce, and completely divorce yourself from this ungodly spirit. It’s not worth missing out on the anointing and promises of God.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before You today, renouncing the spirit of fear in my life. I declare that fear has no hold over me, for You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Lord, forgive me for the times I have allowed fear to keep me from walking in obedience to Your will. I choose to trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that You are all-knowing and all-powerful. Strengthen my faith so that I may boldly step into the calling and purpose You have for me. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
Write down specific fears and then pray over each one, declaring God’s truth over them. Speak out loud that you renounce fear and embrace faith, knowing that God has already gone before you. Whenever fear tries to creep back in, remind yourself of God’s promises and move forward in obedience.
