Isaiah 6:8b (ESV)
“Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
Devotion
When The Lord spoke to Isaiah asking, “Whom shall I send?” Isaiah promptly responded, “Here I am, send me.” How many times have you seen others in need and instantly felt heartbroken for them? What if, in those moments, God is asking you, “Whom shall I send?” Stop and think about that for a moment and ask yourself, “What if this is God making me aware of a situation so I can provide the answer to their prayer?
In the true story, Ordinary Angels, we are introduced to Sharon, who is struggling with alcohol addiction and an estranged relationship with her son. She certainly has problems of her own and is trying to work on those problems. Yet, while in a grocery store, she glanced down at a newspaper and noticed Michelle’s story, a precious little girl who had just lost her mother, and she, herself, was close to death and desperately needed a liver transplant. It was evident that the story touched Sharon’s heart. Notice, though, that she didn’t just think, “Poor baby,” put the newspaper back on the stand, and go on about her day. Even though she may not have realized it was a call from God, she knew she had to help this family in their time of need.
Notice how Sharon didn’t just offer a one-time gift to a struggling family. The $3,000+ she raised would have been a great sacrifice on her part. But she did not stop there, she dug in her heels and was the catalyst God used to perform a miracle for little Michelle. Shouldn’t we, too, be a catalyst for Him?
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
While I sincerely long to be used by You, I admit that in my own mess, I sometimes feel unworthy to be Your servant. Within my heart, I know that is a trick by the enemy to keep me from being used by You to be an answer to someone’s prayer. In the name and authority of Jesus, I rebuke the enemy and his tactics that would hinder me from being Your vessel. I commit to You as I now say, “Here I am, Lord, send me.” In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
In Matthew 18:33, Jesus asked, “Shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I have had on you?” To whose prayers is He calling you to provide the answer? The next time a need is brought to your attention, become God’s servant in the situation. Seek His divine wisdom, then step out in faith knowing that He will guide you.
