Terror From God

Sunday, March 23

1 Samuel 14:15 (NIV)
“Then panic struck the whole army—those in the camp and field, and those in the outposts and raiding parties—and the ground shook. It was a panic sent by God.”
Devotion

In today’s verse, it says how the whole army was so terrified that they fled after Jonathan and his armor bearer started killing them. God caused an earthquake to scare the rest of them. Jonathan decided to move forward, and God did the rest. Pastor Woodson said in his sermon, “When you move out in faith, the enemy moves out in fear.” You don't have to be filled with fear when God is beside you. As one song says, “Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.” You are an overcomer because He overcame the world. You are an overcomer because, through Him, you have the power to overcome and do anything.

Don't be like Saul, hiding or cowering all the time. Don't give up when it seems like He's not answering your prayers. Don't live in fear and waste your chance to chase after your destiny. Does it not say in Isaiah 40:31 that “those who wait expectantly for the Lord shall renew their strength?” Most of us think that waiting is boring, that we don't get anything done, and that we are wasting time. But God never wastes our time; He wants us to learn patience and endurance while we wait. He wants us to learn to depend on His strength, not ours. When we are weary, it is then that He will come and renew us. We must keep on believing, trusting, and worshiping God, as Pastor Woodson said.

When we are at our weakest, His power shines through us. We can do nothing on our own, but God can work miracles! He can make our enemies run for cover, thinking there is an army coming for them. And in their wake, we find His blessings. But nothing will happen if we don't move forward in faith. If we don't claim what He has promised us, we miss out. We need to step into the destiny and future He has prepared for us. Make your “perhaps” turn into a “yes.” Say yes to God, and you will not regret it.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me that when I step out in faith, You move on my behalf. Just as You caused panic in the enemy’s camp for Jonathan, I trust You to fight my battles. Help me to reject fear and doubt, knowing that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. Renew my courage and give me boldness to pursue the purpose You have for my life. May I wait on You with expectancy, believing that You are working all things for my good. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Take a step of faith this week, whether it’s having a difficult conversation, applying for an opportunity, or starting something new. Trust that God will go before you, making a way and causing fear to flee. Keep a journal of how God shows up as you move forward in faith.
