The Coming Of Jesus
Saturday, April 18
1 John 3:2-3 (NKJV)
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”
Devotion
Dear friends, even now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been fully revealed. Yet we hold fast to this promise: when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. This is the beautiful hope we live with every day.
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, everything will change. Those who belong to Him will be transformed, moving from this earthly life into His glorious presence. What a day that will be when we see our God and Savior face to face.
This promise is not rooted in our perfection, but in our transformation. Those who truly belong to Christ begin to reflect His nature, loving others, caring for others, and desiring the presence of God. It is a life that seeks to please Him and walk in His will.
Scripture reminds us that everyone who has this hope in Him purifies themselves, just as He is pure. Our hope in Christ’s return is not passive, it calls us to live differently. It compels us to pursue holiness, to turn from sin, and to grow more like Jesus each day.
One day, this world as we know it will pass away, and we will be called up to meet Him. Because we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we have the assurance that we will see Him.
So today, let this hope shape how you live. Fix your eyes on Him, walk in His ways, and allow His Spirit to purify your heart. For when He appears, we will be like Him, and we will be with Him forever.
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Cause me to be wise and understand what Your will is. Teach me the fear of the Lord. I surrender to the leading of Your Holy Spirit, redeeming the time, for the days are evil. Help me to be ready when You return. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
1 Thessalonians 5:23–24 says, “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” It is God’s responsibility to sanctify, and our responsibility to yield to Him. Willingness and obedience are better than sacrifice. And in these times, it really counts.
