The Compassionate Sacrifice of Christ

Isaiah 53:10 (NIV)

Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush Him and cause Him to suffer, and though the Lord makes His life an offering for sin, He will see His offspring and prolong His days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in His hand.

Devotion

When Lucifer staged a coup in heaven, attempting to overthrow God’s throne, the Lord, in His holiness and justice, created a place of eternal judgment called hell and the lake of fire. This fire was never intended for mankind but for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41). Yet, when Satan was cast down to earth, he began his work of deception, drawing men and women into sin (Genesis 3) and pulling them toward the punishment prepared for him.

But God, rich in love and mercy, did not abandon humanity. The Son of God, moved with compassion, saw the end of man’s path—torment, suffering, and eternal separation from the Father. Out of that compassion, He stepped forward and declared He would bear the punishment humanity deserved. Isaiah 53:10 reveals this truth: it was the Lord’s will that Christ be crushed, not for His own sin, but to carry the sins of the world.

On the cross, Jesus absorbed the full weight of God’s judgment so we would not have to face it. What was meant for Satan and his followers, Christ endured for us. This is love beyond measure, grace that cannot be earned or repaid.

Now the choice is ours. Will we follow the deceiver into destruction, or will we embrace the Savior who took our place? Heaven and hell are real. Eternity is certain. Christ has opened the way for us to become part of His offspring, His redeemed family.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for stepping into my place and taking the punishment I deserved. I repent of my sins and turn to You. Help me live a life that honors Your sacrifice. Keep me from the lies of the enemy and strengthen me to remain faithful until the end. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
