Joel 2:28 (NASB)

“It will come about after this that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind. And your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.”

Devotion

Have you ever deeply thought about the magnitude of God’s love? As Christians, we know this from the Scripture in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." We recognize the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made to save us from our sins.

Joel 2:28 prophesied that God would pour out His Spirit on all people—young and old, male and female, no matter their background. In the Old Testament, people were selected by God to receive the Spirit for His purposes. If we fast-forward to the Day of the Pentecost, Peter recognized the prophecy coming to life when the Spirit descended on the people gathered there speaking different languages. All understood in their own language as foretold in Joel. God’s Spirit started to be accessible to all. This is yet another extension of God’s love. God is so pure, there was a time when we could not talk directly to him in prayer. Today, we are able to ask for His Spirit to help us in time of need.

Pastor Franklin’s The Seventh Hand teaches that the number six represents human effort, while seven symbolizes God’s divine intervention. When we combine our efforts with the power of His Spirit, God’s Hand moves mightily in our lives. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live out His calling, transforming our ordinary efforts into extraordinary acts for His glory.

Through the Spirit, God equips every believer—regardless of age, status, or past—to fulfill His purpose. Praise God for His gift of the Holy Spirit. No barriers. No limits. Just His mighty hand at work in our lives!

May we daily seek His Spirit, trusting His Hand to work through us, turning our dreams, visions, and efforts into a testimony of His boundless love and power.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for taking a deep interest in my life and for Your love that breaks down the barriers and limitations I have created. You are the God of the impossible, and I trust in Your merciful nature to do what only You can do. I surrender my life to You. Lead me in Your truth, make every crooked path straight, and empower me to walk in the plans You have created for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Apply It Today

Humility is a powerful key that unlocks doors only God can open. "Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time" (1 Peter 5:6). Consider any area in your life where pride—your own ability—has pushed God's hand away. Surrender it to Him today. Listen for the Holy Spirit's voice to lead you from the wilderness into a well-watered garden, a place without struggle.
