What Do You Want Me To Do For You?
Sunday, June 7
Mark 10:51-52 (NKJV)
“So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.”
Devotion
Jesus knew Bartimaeus’ condition before He asked the question. Scripture shows that God knows our needs before we ask (Matthew 6:8), and He declares the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). Nothing about our lives is hidden from Him.
Yet Jesus still asked, “What do you want me to do for you?” The question was an invitation to faith and fellowship. God is not seeking information; He is inviting a relationship.
Bartimaeus responded with simple faith: “Rabbi, I want to see.” His words reflected trust in Christ’s power. Scripture reminds us that the tongue has power (Proverbs 18:21), and what is spoken in faith often reflects what is believed in the heart.
Jesus answered, “Your faith has healed you.” The miracle followed his faith in Christ. Immediately, he received his sight and followed Jesus. This passage also reflects that God created people with free will. He invites, but He does not force. Bartimaeus chose to call on Jesus, chose to speak, and chose to follow after receiving his healing.
We are reminded that prayer is not about informing God, but responding to Him. He already knows, yet He still calls us to come, speak, and walk with Him in faith.
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You that You see me fully and still invite me into fellowship with You. Help me not to hold back in fear or doubt, but to come to You with honest faith. Teach me to trust Your timing, Your power, and Your love. Give me courage to speak what I believe You can do, and the grace to follow You after You answer. I choose to walk with You wholeheartedly. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
Don’t stay silent about what you need from Jesus. Like Bartimaeus, bring your request to Him honestly and in faith, believing that He not only hears you but is able to respond. What you speak in faith is often the doorway to what God wants to do in your life.
