Wise Men Still Seek Him

Sunday, November 17

2 Chronicles 26:5 (NIV)
“He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the LORD, God gave him success.”
Devotion

In the time of King Uzziah, we see a striking example of how seeking the Lord brings favor, strength, and prosperity. Scripture tells us that as long as Uzziah sought the Lord under the guidance of Zechariah, he found success. But it was more than just Uzziah’s actions; it was the alignment of his heart toward God’s purpose and guidance that brought true blessing. His success was directly tied to his willingness to seek the Lord with a humble heart.

Today, the world is filled with countless voices and distractions. The spirit of Jezebel, representing deceit, manipulation, and a lust for power, continues to lure many away from God’s truth. This spirit tries to sway us into compromise and ungodliness, promoting self-centered ambition and seducing us with short-lived pleasures and personal gain. But God is calling us to a higher standard, a path of holiness and surrender, to be set apart from the world’s ways.

We stand on the brink of a worldwide revival. The Spirit of the Lord is moving mightily, stirring hearts and awakening a hunger for truth, purity, and authentic worship. Now more than ever, God is seeking those who will seek Him wholeheartedly, those who desire to know Him deeply, honor Him with their lives, and serve Him with a pure heart.

To stand firm in these times, we must actively pursue a relationship with God. This means not just seeking Him in moments of need but making Him the center of our daily lives. As we read His Word, we receive wisdom; as we worship, we find strength; and as we pray, we align ourselves with His will. When our focus is set on Him, we are empowered to overcome any spiritual attack, even the strongholds that the enemy tries to place in our lives.

Let us strive to be people who are marked by our devotion to God. Let our lives testify of His goodness and reflect His holiness. Let us seek Him, live for Him, honor Him, and serve Him without compromise. For as we seek the Lord, He will guide us, prosper us, and use us as vessels for His coming revival.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
I confess that I have often not been faithful in daily prayer, daily worship, and daily feeding on Your Word. Oh Lord, forgive me. As worldliness seeps in, wake me up. Snap me out of it. Help me be about my Father's business. Invite others to speak into my life and keep me accountable, both when I am doing well and when I am at risk of wandering onto the broad road that leads to destruction. Begin giving me my marching orders for the coming year, and confirm Your will through Scripture, Your Holy Spirit, wise counsel, and circumstance. Show me new things to begin doing, and old things to move away from. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen

Apply It Today

Consecration – setting oneself apart from sin in order to please God – has a ripple effect. Zechariah’s consecration prepared him to advise a king, who listened and the nation was blessed. When you are tempted, and that’s what it is, to wonder whether pursuing holiness matters, whether loving God matters, whether spending time reading or hearing the word of God matters, remember this. Be encouraged that your consecration will bless your family and your community and contribute to others coming to know the Savior Jesus Christ.
