Abundant Mercy

Exodus 10:19 (NKJV)
And the LORD turned a very strong west wind, which took the locusts away and blew them into the Red Sea. There remained not one locust in all the territory of Egypt.
Devotion
In chapter 10 of Exodus, the Lord sent an east wind of judgment and destruction that brought in the eighth plague of locusts. The land of Egypt had never experienced this vast number of locusts. But God, in His mercy, sent a strong west wind that removed every single locust.

When we face trials, storms, and east winds in our lives that we have never experienced before, we must remember the extravagant mercy and grace of our God. He didn’t only remove the locusts for the Israelites, but He also removed the locusts for all of Pharaoh’s people, just as He didn’t only send His Son Jesus solely for the righteous. Jesus was sent for all, even for the redemption of the unrighteous.

East winds don’t only affect the children of God; they also affect the lost in our world. West winds of mercy and grace that signal a change in season or relief from pain, are also abundantly lavished on the lost.

Todays Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your mercies that are new every morning. Times and seasons are in your hands. I thank you for the hope I have in your redemptive power which assures me that a new season is on the horizon. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Apply It Today
During times of east winds, we must hold on to the hope and promises of our God who time and time again provides rest and relief from the previous seasons of hurt and disappointments that we all face.
