An Encounter With Jesus Changes You

Saturday, November 30

Luke 8:2-3 (NKJV)
“...and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.”
Devotion

Do you have the burden to partner with our Lord Jesus in reaching out to the lost? There were twelve disciples, who witnessed and performed many miracles with him - but there were also certain women who were there with Jesus. They were healed of evil spirits and infirmities. And because Jesus had healed and restored them, they provided for him from their substance.

Mary Magdalene had seven demons, and these demons fled when she encountered our Lord Jesus Christ! Being with our Lord Jesus is life changing. An addict turns to Christ and is now addicted to praising God. A murderer encounters Jesus and his heart is now filled with love. A thief encounters Jesus and he returns everything he stole, with interest. The Lord Jesus changes you from inside out. Your grief is turned to joy and hope for tomorrow. Your anger and bitterness is replaced with love and peace. Your empty nets are now overflowing with catch and more than a year’s worth of wages!

There may have been days, weeks, months or even years when you felt that nothing is happening and you will never be able to break this cycle of depression and overwhelming responsibilities. You may have done everything in your power and intellect and things have not budged an inch. You are at the end of your rope. There is nothing left to do, but wait for the inevitable. But have you considered turning your life over to God and casting all your cares upon Him? He cares for you. He loves you so much that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to save you. Turn to the Lord Jesus, touch His garment – believe in the Lord Jesus – and see your life transformed!

Peace comes like a river. Love abides in you. Problems are solved in its time. Provision comes unexpectedly. Hope abounds. Jesus stays. He is the same yesterday, today and forevermore! He will never leave you nor forsake you. The God of the universe brings hope to this dying body. He is the resurrection and the life. There is life after death. Death to self and this world. Live for Jesus and have life more abundantly. It only takes your change of vision! Jesus’ vision! A hope for tomorrow and a desire to partner and co labor with him to seek others who too were in the same place you once were. These women encountered Jesus and they were changed, instantly! The possibilities are endless - the future is bright, and today is worth rejoicing over.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
I am ready. I surrender all my cares at your feet. Use me, mold me, and enable me to do Your will, and partner with you in bringing in the harvest! There is no more time to delay. The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few. I need to do my part, Lord Jesus, and co-labor with you in reaching out to the lost, just as you have also reached out to me and saved me. I am nothing without You. But, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
As St. Francis of Assisi prayed:

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

God is calling us to be co-laborers with Him. Are you ready to partner with our Lord Jesus Christ? The fields are ready for harvest. As you die to self and live for Jesus, remember all that he has done for you. Let there be a burden for the lost that will cause you to reach out to those whom God has put in your heart to pray for and to lead to a saving knowledge of our Jesus Christ. So many people are perishing each day. If we do nothing, then our lives have no meaning. We are here to live for God and to do the will of the Father. He commands us: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Resources:

  • Don’t fall under the burden of your Christian Walk. Take heart and grow in the Lord’s strength as you watch the message, “Can Jesus Use Me?” Then go and minister and disciple those to whom you are called.
  • Commit to following through with Isaiah 6:8, as you step out in faith to be God’s witness.
