Build An Altar To The Lord

Wednesday, March 13

Genesis 8:20 (NKJV)

“Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.”

Devotion

When Noah came out of the Ark after a very long and tiresome journey, the first
the thing he did was build an altar to the Lord.
We can learn so much from this one simple statement. When we have come through a flood, we should try to emulate Noah, who didn’t take a moment to survey his new surroundings, but instead offered the 1 clean animal he was commanded to take with him on his journey as a burnt offering to the Lord.

Likewise, when God brings us through a flood, and we have just stepped out of this hardship, we should build an altar of praise. Thankfully, we aren’t called to do it as in Old Testament times and offer burnt animals. Instead, God wants us to give Him verbal praise and thanks for what He has done for us. He wants us to build our altar of praise!

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Today, I want to sit at Your feet and offer up a sacrifice of praise to You. Even though I cannot begin to name all the times You have been with me and reached out to me, I want to praise You for each one. For those times I have been totally unaware of Your divine guidance and protection, I thank You. I admit, Lord, that You know more about me than I do. I glorify You for caring to watch over me and draw me closer to You each day. As You desire an intimate relationship with me, I, too, long for that passionate relationship with You. I thank You for guiding me to that place. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Continue in prayer, making it personal. Offer God praise for all that comes to mind. Let today be about Him receiving the love and adoration from you that He so desires and deserves.
