Don’t Allow Pride To Cloud The Truth
Friday, December 1
Revelation 13:8 (NKJV)
“All who dwell on the earth will worship him [the beast], whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
Devotion
How many times have you seen someone you thought was saved fall to sin? And you swore that it would never happen to you. Then all of the sudden you get tripped up and end up falling short of the glory of God. Sometimes people allow pride or ego to cloud their view of the truth. That truth is God's word and what He says about us.
When you allow doubt and fear to cloud your view of the Scriptures, you eventually fall into sin. The way to prevent that, is by spending time in the Word. God will never change because He is unchanging. He wants faithful followers of Him that won't compromise on their convictions. Followers who are on fire for Him, those who can change the world one transformed soul after another.
When you consider how the world is now; remember that you are a son or daughter of the King of Kings. If you have fallen into temptation; repent (turn away from sin) and confess, then He will cleanse you. Stay strong and keep yourself accountable by staying in the Word.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the warnings and admonishments of Scripture. I confess I am frightened at the thought of so many people worshiping the beast. I confess my sins and shortcomings. Write my name in the Lamb's book of life, and help me build the faith and character I need to do right while I am in this world. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
Apply It Today
Today’s verse shows that the worship of what is not God will be a cultural phenomenon as the Day of the Lord gets closer. What is worshiped will appear strong, enticing, and spiritual. “This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of God’s people (verse 10).” Who are we enduring for? Jesus, the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world, rose again and is returning. Today, whether you find yourself distressed by the world’s enticements or caught up in them, return to the Shepherd and Overseer of your soul (1 Peter 2:25).
