Don't Let Fear Bury Your Rags

Thursday, October 2

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV):

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Devotion

In Jeremiah's dungeon, dirty rags—stained symbols of brokenness—became the lifeline that pulled him from despair, much like God uses our past pains as testimonies to rescue others.

Fear whispers that your stains disqualify you, labeling you a coward fleeing the battle of sharing your story, but the Holy Spirit equips you with boldness instead. This power isn't flashy charisma but gospel-fueled courage to declare, "I was sinking, but He lifted me," turning your rags into royalty that reaches the unreachable. Love compels you to tie your testimony to the rope of hope. That way, you can extend tender care to those in pits of addiction, depression, or loss, just as Ebed-Melech risked it all for Jeremiah.

A sound mind reins in your selfish doubts. A sound mind gives you discipline to overcome intimidation and step through open doors without letting your past shame hold you hostage.

Don't let your pain be in vain! The Holy Spirit's gifts empower you to pull souls from death. What the world calls worthless, God redeems as worthy weapons. Today, embrace this divine exchange: rags for rescue, and fear for fortitude.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your incredible love that gives me the confidence to talk about the breakthroughs You have so lovingly provided for me. Your love overcomes any fear I may have. And may it always be my motivation to reach out to others, to see the need, and help out where I can. Cause me to love in both word and deed, for this is what You did for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
