Eagerly Waiting

Romans 8:22 (NLT)
For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
Devotion
We as Christians share in creation's hope for the start of a new era, an era of promises that is yet to manifest on this earth. This should be a cause for joy and should instill in us a deep longing in our souls as we await our final redemption. Such hope is the very essence of our salvation in Jesus, the finishing work of God in us.
Romans 8:22 describes an atmosphere of tension, the manifestation of our sinful nature that is tangible and evident on this earth as humans continue to corrupt what God intended for good. The Apostle Paul describes this manifestation as the pains of childbirth, a deep and unbearable tension that leads to the glorious birth of redemption, which can manifest through the righteous and eager actions of Christians who have been bought and perfected by Jesus Christ. Christians who are willing to humble themselves, walk in obedience on this earth, and act as agents of change.
As believers, this leaves us with a continued commitment to expectancy. We should use whatever time we have left to cultivate a culture of holiness through prayer and obedience, eagerly awaiting with confidence the coming of our Lord Jesus. It is our time as believers to stand in faith with assurance of our hope in the promise that is soon to manifest on this earth.
Are you eagerly awaiting the return of our Messiah, Jesus?
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for the prophetic promise of the return of our Messiah, Jesus. There is a tangible urgency in the air! All of Creation awaits Your command. I repent that I have not been passionate enough while waiting for Your return. I pray that You create in me a sense of urgency in repentance, a willingness to walk in obedience until You deem it is the correct time to manifest Jesus once again. Help me to stay focused on Your righteous Word. Help me, Holy Spirit, to eagerly await the hope of my salvation in Jesus and for the future of my generations. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen."
