Jesus told his followers that in this world there would be trouble, but when we experience that trouble, we can take heart because he has overcome the world (John 16:33). Isn’t it great that in our troubles, our pain, our regret, and the difficulties we face in this world that we still have hope? Our Scripture today tells us that when we fall, God is the one who upholds us. He is there in our weakness to strengthen us and to be the rock on which we stand.

We have pain but God can bring purpose to that pain. Romans eight tells us God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). So, everything we can experience, good or bad can be used for our good and for His glory. The harder the situation is, the more difficult it is to see that biblical truth. 

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the promise that even when I’m afraid or uncertain, you know the outcome and you are my Source of strength and security. I may not always know what is to come but I trust in you, because you hold my future. Help me to be replenished by your joy and rivers of grace, and living water today. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

You have a purpose. There is joy in your future. And your best days are not behind you. If you are reading this, God is not done, and he can still use you today!
