Faith In Action

Genesis 12:1-3 NKJV
Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Devotion
Abram was called to action to obtain God’s promises. Faith without works is dead. Abram had to gather His family and belongings and move away from all that was known and comfortable. Like leading a person to a surprise while blind folding them, it is very exciting if you know that you can trust that it will be a good surprise. Abram was willing to trust God with himself, his family, their future, and with their earthly goods in this move.
Abram could not imagine the magnitude of what he did, even though God said He would become a great nation, and through him all peoples of the earth would be blessed! Holding on to a word that God has spoken over you, and having faith in God enough to act on that word can be challenging, but it is often bigger than ourselves, and will affect others.
We may face uncomfortable situations ahead, and want to act in fear, but the Holy Spirit will continue to lead us, and help us along our journey towards God’s promises.
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank you for your faithfulness to me. I have full confidence that you will continue to guide my steps into the plans you have for me. Help me to have faith even when I don’t see it. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
