Freedom of The Soul

Wednesday, June 28

John 8:36 NKJV
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Devotion
Jesus said this to people who were not slaves or in prison, and they were offended. In particular, they thought they were already free because of their spiritual heritage. Jesus revealed that freedom of the soul is not based on physical freedom or on ancestors’ faith. Only Jesus Christ can set a soul free. Beyond being saved from eternal punishment, we can be satisfied in Jesus here on earth. God gives us a new nature, one that is free from craving the sins that enslaved us. This is a miracle!

The Sunday message this week was about why we praise God. If Jesus has set you free, praising God is an essential part of maintaining and achieving greater freedom. If your soul needs freedom, read Psalms out loud or sing songs of petition and cry out to God for it. Then sing, my soul!

Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank you for your precious Son Jesus! Thank you for redeeming me and setting me free through his blood. I acknowledge you Lord Jesus as my savior, my deliverer and my healer. You have set me free and boldly proclaim that I am free!

Take your rightful place of dominion and authority in my life now and forever. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!

Apply It Today
The Maker of the universe knows your name. Are you free today? Sing praise! Are you suffering? Pray and worship, acknowledging Jesus as Savior and King. Are you weighed down by sin? Confess your sins and receive prayer for forgiveness and healing. (James 5:13-16)
