Ephesians 6:10-11 (MSG)
“And that about wraps it up. God is strong and he wants you strong. So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you can stand up to all the devil throws at you. This is no weekend war that we will walk away from and forget. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the devil and all his angels.”
Devotion
This life requires strength. And as we live longer, life gets harder. Living godly in a godless culture requires more strength than we can muster on our own. Thankfully, we are not on our own.
Today’s verses from Ephesians outline why we must embrace the challenge to become strong. Pastor Jentezen teaches us that having godly relationships warrants coming out of our hiding places to living life in the trenches fighting against the devil’s plans to destroy our lives.
Pastor teaches that fathers need not be absent, but they must engage by leading the fight for their families. This is true for all of us whether or not you’re a father, mother, sister, brother or friend.
We live in a world desperate for peace. Truth and righteousness are precursors to peace. Compromising (omission) truth causes us to be less than who God calls us to be. We are strong when we fight from a place of peace in Christ, confident He goes before us to calm storms, heal hearts, and restore souls.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You that You are strong and You want me to be strong too. I will armor up to stand in Your plan. Teach me how to fight from that place of peace in You. As I read Your Word, bind truth to my soul so I will not live a compromised life. Help me to adopt a determination that refuses to back down, and thank You for providing everything I need to stand firm and fight. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
As you pray each day, remember to mention each family member by name to the Lord. As they go through specific struggles, heartache, decisions, pray over those. If you don’t know of any specifics, ask God to give them His wisdom, peace, joy, guidance in all things and keep them secure in Him. Pray over their body, mind, soul, and spirit as you lift them up to Him daily.
