Hold To The Unshakeable Kingdom

Hebrews 12:27-28 (‬TPT)

”Now this phrase “once and for all” clearly indicates the final removal of things that are shaking, that is, the old order, so only what is unshakable will remain. Since we are receiving our rights to an unshakable kingdom we should be extremely thankful and offer God the purest worship that delights his heart as we lay down our lives in absolute surrender, filled with awe.“

Devotion

In Hebrews 12, the writer compares our life of faith to a race and encourages us to keep going even though it’s difficult. He pleads with us not to quit. He reminds us of the eternal Kingdom we have freely inherited as God’s chosen people. An enduring Kingdom that has a sure foundation that compels us to endure life’s trials.

Endurance is the ability to bear prolonged hardship. It is the determination to keep moving forward at a steady, unyielding pace.

We will never make it to the finish line on our own. We need to hold on to the unshakable power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ empowered by the Holy Spirit to keep moving forward in this race of life.

These verses today reveal that a day is coming when a further shaking will reveal whether we are clinging to created things or those that have the character of permanence. The author of Hebrews warns believers to live in anticipation of eternity so we don't become absorbed by temporary concerns.

We endure some real, earthly setbacks, but some things can never be removed from us. God's Word, His Love, His Son, and His Spirit are ours forever if we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord. (Romans 10:9) God's eternal Kingdom is secure. The Scripture doesn't say it will not be shaken. It says it "cannot be shaken!” With anticipation, we can heed God's warning to put our greatest hope in unshakable things.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for warning us ahead of time of the shaking that is coming. I confess I often fail to properly discern and overestimate my ability to withstand the shaking. I confess I overestimate the quality of my foundation and structure. I need Your help. Give me eyes to see Your honest assessment of where I am. Let me not think of myself more highly than I ought, but give me a sober judgment of myself and the state of my spirituality. Show me the steps I need to take to be properly prepared for the shaking ahead. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Spend a few more minutes in prayer today. Recall Pastor Jentezen’s encouragement based on today’s verse: Thank God for His mercy, His love, and His faithfulness to you. Thank Him for the Name of Jesus (YHWH Saves). Thank Him for His Word, which lights our path to building a firm foundation. Thank Him for providing the Holy Spirit. Be willing to hear from the Holy Spirit what is next for the building of godly character in you so that you will not be shaken.
