Man Can Lie, God Can’t Lie

Thursday, July 6

Numbers 23:19 NKJV
God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Devotion
As children of God, we should never lie. Yet, we often fall into this area intentionally and other times unintentionally. A typical example is when we over-schedule ourselves with work, family, and other commitments, without realizing we already have a full schedule.

In such instances, the ideal is to contact the people we’re unable to meet up with and reschedule, instead of jumping to the first seemingly easy resolution of lying our way through programs. When we open that door we allow the lies to grow into a snowball of lies where we lose our way.

We ought to emulate our heavenly Father because He on the other hand can’t lie. If He said it, He will do it. This will always manifest in His timing, not ours. So make sure you put Him first in everything you do, that He may direct your path and you may become more like Him.

Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for your Faithfulness. Your promises to me are yes and amen through Christ Jesus. Thank you for being consistent and trustworthy. Forgive me Lord for the many times I have fallen short of telling the truth. Help me to constantly remember who I am in you and that you have given me the power to overcome every sinful nature. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today
Sometimes our inability to say the truth is because we’re afraid to say no. It’s ok to simply say no. If you can’t commit to attending an event, if you can’t help out where help is needed and if you simply don’t know the answer, challenge yourself this week to say no and add nothing else to it.
