No One Left In The Dark

2 Peter 1:19-21(NIV)
We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Devotion
We find ourselves in a dark period in time, and it is hard to predict what will happen from day to day. But fear not, God has not hidden what He is up to! The Bible is one fourth prophecy and that prophecy is reliable.

The disciples shared firsthand accounts of prophecy they saw fulfilled with their own eyes. Jesus being resurrected 3 days after his death on the cross for the remission of sin, is one example. In 1948, when Israel became a nation again in just one day after almost 1900 years, Biblical prophecy was fulfilled exactly as predicted. At no other time in history has a nation been birthed in one day. Since 1948, we have been witnessing firsthand the reliability of the prophetic Word of God. One prophecy after another has been fulfilled in this generation, and now technology can bring the gospel to every nation in the earth – which is the last prophecy to be fulfilled before the rapture of the church. Beyond that, we are also seeing the nations of the earth line up to fulfill the prophecy of what will happen shortly after the rapture of the church. The mysteries of the end times are unfolding before us. Surely, the Lord’s return is near.

God’s word is the light in this present darkness. Do not be afraid. He has not left us in the dark concerning the current and future events. Pay close attention to His Word about the end times, praying and watching for His return with joyful expectation. Humble yourself before the Lord, and make yourself ready.

Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You that we have the word of the prophets made more certain through the eyewitness testimony of Peter and the Apostles to Jesus' transfiguration, death, burial, resurrection, and promised return. Thank You that prophecy does not originate in the will of man, but that men speak from God as they are led by the Holy Spirit. Shine Your light into the darkness of our hearts by Your Holy Spirit. Illuminate Scripture for us so we know how to love and serve Jesus, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in our hearts. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen

Apply It Today
Today – every time you become aware of distressing news, respond out loud, “Maranatha!” – meaning, “Come, Lord Jesus!” In the very last verses of the Bible, Jesus says, “Surely I am coming soon!” (Revelation 22:20) Let us agree and prayerfully look for this promise to be fulfilled.
