Release Fear To Live Boldly In Christ

Friday, December 22

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Devotion
How many times have we allowed our fears to imprison us? How many times has fear caused us to doubt God? How many times has fear destroyed our potential? Simply because we were afraid of what people might think. We are not to be afraid of man. The only one we are to be concerned about is God. He has the power to kill both our body and soul. He is our creator and our Heavenly Father. He wants us to obey Him. We can't obey Him when we live in fear. So choose to live in faith instead.

When you are afraid, remember Joseph, Mary's husband; how he was afraid but still he chose to obey God anyway. Or Moses, who feared speaking in front of others yet followed God's call to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. These examples show us that fear is natural, but it doesn't have to control us. The verse from 2 Timothy reminds us that God hasn't given us a spirit of fear but one of power, love, and a sound mind. When fear creeps in, we can combat it with prayer, trust in God's promises, and by surrounding ourselves with supportive believers.

Living boldly in Christ means acknowledging our fears but not letting them dictate our actions. It means stepping out in faith, knowing that God is with us every step of the way. Instead of being paralyzed by fear, we can choose to focus on God's power and love, allowing these truths to propel us forward.
As you face fears, remember that God is greater than anything that causes you to doubt. Surrender those fears to Him, and embrace the boldness that comes from living in His strength.

Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for always being near and guiding me through the storms of life. Like Joseph, Moses, and so many others throughout Your Word, I confess that I, too, sometimes allow fear to overtake my thoughts and I get caught up in the fact that I don’t see a way out. When the doubtful thoughts overtake my mind, help me to remember to focus on You as the problem solver, rather than the issue at hand. As the father of the mute child said to Jesus, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief,” I ask You to remove doubt and fear from me so that I may come to You in faith in all of life’s circumstances. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
