Sowing The Right Way

Philippians 1:3-5 (NIV)
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,”
Devotion

An important part of our earthly mission is compassion for those who do not benefit from the teaching and guidance of Jesus. The lost souls of this generation, the poor in spirit, the meek, those who mourn, those who hunger and thirst for someone they have not been able to name or recognize (Jesus). They all have a place in God's Kingdom.
Jesus' earthly ministry was moved by compassion, for those who were spiritually weary and physically worn out. Jesus called them sheep without a shepherd. Jesus went from town to village, to provide the two essential needs of his time. First, addressing religious oppression, prioritizing spiritual needs, repentance and forgiveness of sins, then providing for their physical needs. Upon Jesus' death and resurrection we received a special calling (The Great Commission) Matthew 28:19-20 that says, “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

These verses are the essence and theme of all generations. Make disciples, preach the good news of The Way! (Jesus).

The Apostle Paul, set a great example by understanding and teaching about the partnership involved in the ministry of the Church. Prioritizing the spiritual needs through prayer, preparing the followers of Jesus for the Great Harvest of souls. Partnering with Jesus to fulfill their role in the Great Commission.

Pastor Javon’s message on Sunday was clear and concise, we need to be Jesus’ hands and feet in this earth by witnessing, preaching, baptizing, and teaching. It's a labor of love that we can all be and need to be willing participants, getting involved in whatever way we can.

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the encouragement in Your Word. Open our eyes to Your vision of the harvest. Help us be Your laborerS, as Your Word in Luke 10:2 says, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Lord, we understand our responsibility and accept our earthly mission and plead to be Your vessels for a time like this. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Please ponder, meditate and prayerfully ask God how you can be a part of His Great Plan of Salvation. Because there is still so much to do, some will teach, some will witness, some will spread the love through prayers and giving to the local church. Knowing what your calling is, sow your seeds the right way for God's Glory!

Resources:

  • Watch this message, "Spirit of Rizpah", and ask yourself how much more important it is for you to fight for the life of your children who are living, than it was for Rizpah to fight for her babies bodies. Remember, those whom God has entrusted to you are your most important mission for the cause of Christ.
  • We are instructed, in Deuteronomy 6:5-9 to teach our children and lead them to God. Contemplate on His words as you read these verses and ask God to lead you in being their greatest leader and prayer warrior.
