Spiritual Victory
Sunday, September 3
Psalm 2:1-4
Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up, and the rulers band together against the LORD and against His anointed, saying, “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.
Devotion
We engage in a battle each and every day. Spiritual warfare surrounds us, whether we realize it or not. However, thanks to Jesus, we know the ending. We will emerge victorious as we stand with Christ against all opposition in the world. Christ’s kingdom is not of this world, so those in Christ will never feel like they fully belong in this world. If we do feel that we belong here, then we are likely not taking our call as Christians seriously.
We must fight for the good in the world, stand on the truth of the Word, and cling to Jesus even when the world is against Him. As the world grows darker, the light shines even brighter. Light always emerges from darkness. We thank God for the victorious ending made possible only through the blood of Christ!
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
In this world where nations conspire and people plot in vain, I find solace in Your sovereignty. As the rulers of the earth rise against You and Your anointed, I take refuge in Your laughter from heaven. Strengthen me, Lord, for the daily spiritual battle that surrounds me, and remind me that my victory is assured through Jesus. May I stand firm in His light, fighting for good, anchored in Your Word, and forever grateful for the triumphant ending secured by the blood of Christ. Amen.
Apply It Today
How do you need to take a stand in the world today? What issues are you silent on? What promises are you not believing? Choose to stand firm on the Word of God, and ask God to give you a Spirit of strength and boldness, not of fear. Do not hold back the very thing that could change someone’s life around completely. We have the power of Jesus in us, the greatest power of history, and we should never take that lightly!
