Stormy Winds

Friday, June 2

Psalm 148:7-8 (NKJV)
Praise the LORD from the earth, You great sea creatures and all the depths; Fire and hail, snow and clouds; Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
Devotion
Meteorologists often give us warnings related to stormy winds. They tell us to seek shelter, secure objects, and occasionally to relocate to evade the stormy winds. They teach us to be fearful of the stormy winds and to attempt to avoid them if possible.

It’s easy to want to feel the same way regarding the stormy winds in our lives. We may want to fear them, seek ways to dodge them, and try to completely avoid them. But it’s important for us to embrace the stormy winds that come because it is through the stormy winds that prophesies and the promises of the Word of God are fulfilled.

It is usually right after a stormy wind that the fulfillment of a promise comes to pass. In the middle of the storm, we can trust God and know that He is the peacemaker who can calm the storm and bring fulfillment through the stormy winds.

Todays Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,

Teach me how to praise you in the midst of the storm I am facing. Help me to see beyond the distractions that surround me, that I may dance in the rain and declare your praises my great deliverer. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
