House Of Praise

Matthew 21:16-17 (NLT)
“They asked Jesus, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” “Yes,” Jesus replied. “Haven’t you ever read the Scriptures? For they say, ‘You have taught children and infants to give you praise.’” Then he returned to Bethany, where he stayed overnight.”
Devotion

Today’s themed scripture evolves around our Messiah’s entrance to the city of Jerusalem. After a 3-year earthly ministry. Note that Jesus did not go up to the court or the palace to proclaim an earthly inheritance to an earthly throne, even though he came into this earth as King.
Jesus walked into Jerusalem giving testimony to his Father’s Kingdom by visiting the temple, proclaiming his Father’s kingdom to be a spiritual one. He established the holiness of God’s house as the center of his reign here on this earth, “the Temple of Jerusalem”.

According to Hebrew literature, the temple is a sanctuary, the Hebrew word is Beit HaMikdash, meaning, "The Holy House", which is a symbol of redemption, a sanctuary to all believers, a house of prayer, and a house of praise!

Jesus' entrance to the city of Jerusalem did not go unnoticed by the religious leaders of his time. They were indignant because they could not believe this Galilean named Jesus would allow children to hail him as the Messiah. But Jesus once again questioned their lack of biblical knowledge, by defending the children’s praise and insisting that it was a fulfillment of the scripture according to Psalms 8:2, “You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you,” and opposed he was by every single religious leader in Jerusalem.

Jesus made it a point to proclaim God, the Holy Father’s Spiritual Kingdom!
He also pointed out the importance of keeping his Father's House, clean from earthly pretentiousness, by calling his Father’s Home, a house of prayer, a house of worship!

Today’s Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the loving God, who created all life and who inspires me to look at the world through Your creative and loving eyes. We praise You for Your Greatness and Holiness, we worship You for giving us Jesus our Messiah, our Savior and King! Your Word tells us in John 14, to not let our hearts be troubled and that we should always trust You. In these verses, Jesus has promised us a new spiritual house, that we can call our home. We eagerly wait for our new home, a new life filled with spiritual promises. In the meantime, please mold my heart so that I can seek and find Your goodness in this earthly world I live in, and that I can view all Your creation with childlike eyes. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Apply It Today

Our application today circles around this analogy for our present time; Keeping our temple clean, proclaiming to the world that Jesus reigns in our lives, keeping Jesus close to our hearts letting him clean our earthly clutters, keeping our hearts and mind sanctified and holy through scripture, prayer, and worship. Let us be like the children of Jesus’ time who by divine intuition recognized the presence of the Holy One in their city.
Let us desire to be as children, moving towards our Father with childlike innocence and wonder, praising in our insufficiency, worshiping in our weakness. Enthroning Jesus every step of our earthly lives, knowing that a spiritual dwelling awaits us.
