The Journey Taken
Wednesday, May 15
Judges 4:9 (NKJV)
“So she said, “I will surely go with you; nevertheless there will be no glory for you in the journey you are taking, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh.”
Devotion
Has there ever been a time that you have been challenged to conquer a community problem? A time where family needed fixing? When Barak was led by God to travel to Kedesh, he asked Deborah to accompany him knowing that she would be the one to help get the job done.
When we are given a gift of prophecy or given a chance to make a difference, it is a sign that we must accompany whoever the Lord puts in our life to do so. Especially when it comes to getting freedom for our children, or even making a positive change in people's lives. When we are given a gift from the heavenly father, He expects us to use it, being a good leader can be one of these gifts.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
I confess that I am often concerned more with reputation and honor than with victory in Jesus. Thank You for the blood of Jesus and the power of Your Holy Spirit available to us every day, including the day of battle. Help me to trust and depend on You – Your name and Your Word. Help me to resist temptations and other schemes of the devil. Let there be no compromise, no empty words, no white lies, no token prayers. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
In the victory recorded in this chapter, the person God used to defeat the enemy Sisera specifically was neither the military general Barak nor the judge Deborah. It was another woman named Jael. Are you seeking a victory from the Lord in a certain area? Be careful not to tell God how to achieve your victory! Submit your need to the Lord, obey His instructions, and allow God to work as only He can.
