Prayer Topic: Grief
There are many ways people can be in grief and they all involve the same thing, loss. Most likely it will be the loss of a loved one but often it can involve a job or they could be going through a divorce or some other personal tragedy. Engage them with empathy, compassion, and support. Acknowledge their feelings and avoid offering suggestions for quick fixes. Even Jesus grieved upon the death of his dear friend, so he knows the pain they are walking through. Remind them that they are not alone.
Possible Things to Pray for:
- Pray for them to experience God’s comfort.
- Pray for people to be available to them to talk through their grief
- Encourage them to keep faith in God and what he can do.
- Pray that God will help them with strength and courage to make it through this time.
